July 2009 Ribbon Judging
Now is the time to make sure your sensitive orchids do not get burned during the summer months. July and August are our hottest months, and you can loose your intermediate-growing orchids to the heat very easy.
Keep sensitive orchids in the shade during the hottest part of the day, which sometimes seems like…all day! If they require water, make sure they get good ventilation. You can get a cheap box fan that keeps the air moving over the plants until evening or until they dry. When it’s hot, good air movement is essential, especially when you water. The fan will also help keep mold, mildew and fungus from attacking you orchids. |
