It looks like the weather is starting to change and
we can cut back on the fungicide and look towards more blooming orchids. It still might be warm, but at least
the evenings are cooler. The
orchids sure like it.
Don’t forget to bring your orchids to our Show at
RF Orchids on Oct. 14th, 15th, and the 16th. We will be putting up an exhibit on
Thursday morning, so please bring & register your orchids as early as
possible. If you come in the morning, you are more than welcome to come and learn
how we put in such a beautiful exhibit. You can even help!! Orchids registered and orchids in our exhibit will receive double
points towards ribbon judging!
Jim Lindberg received a culture award
for his Mtssa. Dark Star that he brought in this month. This large, well-grown orchid was in
a basket and had 80 flowers on 34 inflorescences. The flowers were pale burgundy overlaid with darker
burgundy splotches on the petals and sepals. The lip was a dark magenta with lighter lines towards
column. Column was yellow and
extended to base of lip. Congratulations, Jim!
