As usual, we had a great show this year, despite
the weather. We also had good
participation in creating our exhibit, “Orchids
Under the Palms”. We
received 2nd Place in Society
Exhibit. Coalition for Orchid
Species received a 1st place for their tabletop exhibit, “Orchids
Under the Sun”.
We did good with the orchids, in fact, Eduardo Marcellini’s Blc. Golden Tang received an AOS Award, AM of 84 points. We also had 2 Culture Awards given to
our members, one in our exhibit and one in Individual Entries. Christa
Collins received Culture for
her C. Hailstorm, a huge plant overgrowing in a large basket,
supporting 250 flowers on 23 inflorescences. Her plant also received 1st for Best Specimen Plant in the show. Lynn Corson’s Cirr. Doris Duke received a culture with a well-grown orchid with
28 flowers. Congratulations,
ladies, for sharing these beautiful plants with us.
