Our speaker will be Erna Maxwell, who will give a slide presentation on the genus Paraphalaenopsis and Hybridization. Erna will also give a mini class on the culture of Paraphalaenopsis species.

Erna, a South Florida resident for thirty-six years has been growing orchids for at least 25 years; starting with a Brassavola nodosa and an Oncidium sphacelatum as her second plant. Coming from the Netherlands, these plants did better here than the daffodils she was accustomed to. Erna is a member of the East Everglades Orchid Society as well as an accredited judge of the American Orchid Society whose special interest is species, stressing conservation in particular.
