Tonight's Program:
Bob Hatos
Hybridizing With Vanda tessellata

Bob Hatos

Bob Hatos and his wife Sandra have been backyard growers and hybridizers, here in Dade County, for about 20 years. Their main area of breading has been aimed at making crosses using  plants that produce seedlings containing a rather large percentage of  Vanda tessellata.

Bob Hatos was second Vice President of the South Dade Amateur Orchid Club, where he and his wife have been members for about 14 years. They have also been members of the East Everglades Orchid Society since its inception. He's a member of AOS and the South Florida Orchid Society, as well.

Tonight's program will open with a brief explanation as to why V. tessellata has had such a great influence in their breading endeavors. A short slide program will follow.

Because Bob and Sandra also have a fondness for 'Pendant' type Dendrobiums, the plant table will include some of the crosses they've made in this area, along with a selection of their tessellata Hybrids.

A quick question and answer session will finish up the night.

It sounds like this will be a great night for orchid lovers, folks! Plan on getting there early to pick up some the amazing plants Bob will be selling and put in your bid for a few of the Silent Auction orchids. And bring in a friend, too; the East Everglades Orchid Society meetings are always open to guests.

Come and join us as we explore this wonderful group of plants.
