Lou's introduction and interest in orchids began when he was ten years old. In 1969, he accepted a management/grower position with Black River Orchids in Michigan. Arriving in Miami in 1979, he managed the orchid section for the legendary Jones & Scully firm. In 1989, Lou accepted a position as agricultural inspector with the State of Florida, and in 1999 he became the regional administrator. In addition, Lou became a student in the AOS judging program in 1969, becoming an accredited AOS judge in 1975. |
Lou is a founding member and a past-president of the Coalition for Orchid Species.
