Tonight's Program:
Larry Cox
Paphiopedilums

Laryy Cox Larry Cox is a Redland orchid hobbyist specializing in Paphiopedilums.  He acquired his first orchid, a Cattleya, in 1972.  His second orchid was a Paph, Maudiae ‘Magnificum.’ The cattleya is long gone, but he still has a piece of the Paph.

When he started growing Paphs in South Florida, most of the orchid world believed the genus could not be grown successfully  here, but Larry's ever-increasing collection, now numbering in the thousands, demonstrates that many Paphs are as easy to grow in the Florida sub-tropics as the common Phals, Cattleys and Vandas.

Although he has grown most Paph species and many mottled leaf hybrids, Larry now specializes in  the multifloras.  He has received 24 American Orchid Society awards for his plants and is frequently seen at the judging centers with his plants.  Along with the Paphs, Larry enjoys working with Phragmipediums, Lycastes, and Pescatoreas.

His program will highlight basic Paph culture, demonstrate potting, and present slides of recommended Paphs for this area. Additionally, Larry will be supplying the plant table. We’re sure this is one you don’t want to miss!

Come and join us as we explore this wonderful group of plants.
