David Schaffter is a past-President of the EEOS and is currently in charge of our Ribbon Judging each month. His interest in orchids started when David's mother volunteered at Fairchild Tropical Gardens and brought home a wide variety of exotic plants to landscape their property. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Ecology, David's love of orchids continued to grow. He joined and led orchid societies, he raised and sold orchids, and he volunteers in shows, judging, and education. David will be showing us the best and proper ways to attach orchids to trees and mounts.
James Davison's love of orchids began at the age of 18 when he noticed the blooming plants attached to his neighbor’s trees in Los Angeles. His collection, by his own admission, is now out of control! Jim has served as past president of the Palomar Orchid Society in Northern San Diego County, is the current vicepresident of the East Everglades Orchid Society and the Orchid Society of Coral Gables, and is a student judge at the Florida-Caribbean Judging Center. He will speak on how to select a plant for purchase, what to look for, and how to tell if it's a good one!
Carol DeBiase has been our Events Chairman for the past 8 years, directing both our Annual Show and our Holiday party. Her love of orchids began over 35 years ago. Carol has been an American Orchid Society Judge for the last 30 years traveling extensively to Peru, Borneo, Malaysia, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the Caribbean, as well as all over the United States. Carol has served on many Committees of the American Orchid Society, been involved with many societies, and lectured at numerous orchid events. Carol will be showing our society how to repot and divide an overgrown orchid!
