Welcome to the Web Talk section of the East Everglades Orchid Society's web site. There is no denying it: computers and the Internet have changed our lives. And whether we like it or not, they are here to stay. Technology has brought us many benefits, but the truth is that it also brings challenges and a whole new set of problems many of us have never have to deal with before. Our intention with this new section is to bring you articles written in a way that is easy to understand, demystifying many of the aspects related to computers and the Internet and providing our members and guests some guidance on how to make the best out of these technologies.
To start, we will be bringing you the Cyber Security Tips from the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), which are very accessible to non-tech web users.
You may ask yourself: "what does this have to do with orchids?" Well... at first sight, nothing. But more and more of our members and other orchid enthusiast are using the Internet to obtain and share information, as well as to keep in touch with other hobbyists. So it felt only natural to try and offer some tips on how to use these resources in a safe and efficient way.
We hope you enjoy this new section. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions by e-mailing me at the address below.
